After a comfortable win against Pontardullais 'A's last Saturday, Wellfield were confident to carry their good form into this evenings game against Bancffosfelin and pick up another 3 points.
Wellfield started the better side and created chances from the off, it was only a matter of time before the home side took the advantage. The lead came after 15 minutes when a Leigh Martin free kick was played across goal by Matthew Curwood where Kelt Jones was waiting to finish. But this lead didn't last long after a mix up in defence between Daniel Craddock and keeper Martin Thomas resulted in an own goal from Craddock. After missing a number of opportunities, Matthew 'Gill' Jones restored the lead for Wellfield when he poked in from 10 yards. Then player manager Jason Garcia scored a great goal from the corner of the box as he placed his lob into the top corner.
Half-Time: Wellfield Athletic 3-1 Bancffosfelin
Wellfield picked up where they left off and soon scored another. It was Jason Garcia again who this time scored a well taken free-kick from the edge of the box. Kelt Jones scored his second of the game minutes later when he struck a spectacular volley into the top corner. 'Gill' took his one on one chance well to score his second and Wellfield's sixth goal. Arun Rai was next on the scoresheet as he scored his first ever goal for Wellfield after sliding his shot under the keeper. 'Gill' then finished off the scoring and completed his hat-trick by placing his shot past the keeper.
Full-Time: Wellfield Athletic 8-1 Bancffosfelin
Another dominant performance shows the reserves intentions this season. Hopefully Wellfield can continue their success and 100% record in their next game against Drefach on Saturday. |
